Recieved feedback (Planning)

Our anamatic had received some constructive critism and some feedback. We have looked at the feedback and gathered the ideas that we think would benefit our film opening. We were told we had to be more adventurous with our camera shots as we mainly focused on the simple shots. The group have also been told that we need add some more appealing shots.

As we presented our anamatic we discussed there was going to be a number of changes. Our group have decided to add a few extra scenes’s and take some out, we will be discarding the shoes shot and some of the unnecessary getting ready shots. We also have decided to scrap the montage scene and have a couple of shots which show the firms nature and who they are and what they contribute to the firm.

week 1: film plot and summary

For this task my group consists of Will Turner (me), Conor O’Sullivan, Lyle Petts and Andrew Lloyd-Jones. We have all been allocated roles in the two minute opening of our film. We have gained inspiration from films like ‘Green Street’ and ‘Football Factory’

Our film is called Holloway Road. It is a British crime drama and explores the nature of football hooliganism and anti social behaviour.
Conor O’Sullivan will be in charge of the filming and the camera
Lyle Petts will be narrating over the montage at the beginning and will be the distinct lead role.
I and Andrew will be in extra actors in film and play football hooligans.

A film will be set and based around the Arsenal Football stadium and the streets around it including Holloway Road which is how we decided upon our title. We have not allocated names for our characters yet, but we will be changing then to more common English cockney names. The film is mainly about an undercover cop who needs to get close to the football hooligans in order to understand them and to lead them into a trap to get them arrested. The group of young hooligans have a distinct reputation and are known all over the football violence underworld. The police want to congregate as much evidence as they possibly can, so their final sentence is maximised. The police officer becomes so occupied and engaged with all the violence he forgets the real reason he started to be with the firm. The firm gain more and more trust with the officer who leads him to feel he needs to be loyal with his new fans and club.

Preliminary Exercise

For this exercise we were told to create a short piece of film which consisted of someone walking through the door with a match on action shot. Then sitting with somebody and having a conversation with somebody using a number of shot reverse shots. We also had to remember the 180 degree rule.

My group included Will (me), Ashleigh and Jamie. In general I believe our group completed the assignment to a very high standard, we had shown all the skill we were asked to show and did so well. All our shots were well planned and every shot reverse shot had the person speaking on the side to show the space which they were they were talking, we also added some extra shots in to show how much knowledge we had in the subject, we used an establishing shot and also an extreme close up to show the anger on his face.

Despite there being many good points to our final short clip. We also had some problems trying to make it short. The group had filmed a lot of footage that we wanted to put in but we were only allowed to put in 30 seconds, our group before we cut some shots out was 1 minute long. We had to discard a lot of footage that we would have liked to keep in. In the end we managed to cut it down to the correct amount of time.

Overall our group worked well together. And i would enjoy working with the same group again. The final film we showed was very good and had the entire element that was needed.
